Abstract

MANGROVE forests are an ecosystem which locates between the land and sea. Due to too excessive activity in the name of development, the area becomes extinct. The study purposely highlights the importance and benefits of mangroves forest to the local community, biodiversity, and economic activity. Secondary data collected from various sources with multiple interest parties to establish the current situation of mangroves forest in the Balik Pulau area. Preliminaries finding indicates that the forest contributes an economic gain to local by providing a source of fisheries and tourist activity, as well as coastal protection from erosion and weather changes
